Later #44: a movie and symphony: ‘Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings’

Saw the movie ‘Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings’ screened at the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House with the musical score performed live by the Sydney Symphony, the Sydney Philharmonia Choir and the Sydney Children’s Choir.
We’ve all seen the movie and most have read the book. This is a brilliant concert, with the children’s singing a highlight (we take for granted the well-oiled machine that the Sydney Symphony is). The fresh dimension of the live performances enhances the intimacy of the story’s relationships, thereby reminding us that Tolkien’s story is not just a mission about a ring, but a human journey about the powers of friendship and love tested by evil in its worst forms. 9/10
