Saw the movie ‘The Lincoln Lawyer.’ In a world of hard liquor and crime, Matthew McConaughey plays Mick, the charming and very cool criminal defence lawyer we’ve seen many times before. He is resourceful thanks to his network of small people on the make and his sharp wit.
Mick is divorced from an enchanting Marisa Tomei and has a young child, which gives him both character depth and vulnerability. He finally gets his big case, a rich ‘kid’ accused of beating a prostitute and a DA intent on prosecuting hard. After being trapped by his client, Mick is required to resolve professional and personal conflicts and this is the premise for the plot. The great characters and gritty light give this movie its richness and entertainment value, although it feels like a pilot for a TV series. 5/10
