Later #41: a movie: ‘Black Swan’

Saw the movie ‘Black Swan’ starring Natalie Portman as Nina in a brain-splitting role as an ambitious featured dancer and Mila Kunis (Lily) as her nemesis and fantasy. Nina’s life has no dimension other than the NY Ballet and her quest for perfection. The absence of a balanced life creates a monstrously defective personality incapable of empathy and prone to delusion.
Everyone stands in Nina’s way including those who have the most to gain by helping (her mother and the ballet director). Nina also sabotages her own ambition, gnawing away at her body like a mange dog would its skin. Nina reaches perfection when performing the black swan in a devilish mosaic crossover of fantasy and passionate dance. With her quest fulfilled and no tolerance for imperfection, the movie ends with the black swan dropping out of the sky leaving Nina the vainglorious victor over her enemies real and imagined. 8/10
