Saw the movie, ‘Fair Game,’ the true story of CIA agent Valerie Plame, who was publicly outed by the apparatchiks of the Bush administration for her honest work questioning the justification for the second Gulf War when the case for WMDs was being constructed by the CIA and White House.
The story gives an interesting insight into how intelligence becomes fact. Much more importantly is the exposure of the blatant criminal conduct by Scooter Libby, for which he was convicted as nominated White House fall guy, for causing the name of a serving covert CIA agent (Plame) to be published. Sean Penn is dogged as Plame’s husband Jo Wilson, who speaks out against the basis for war. Naomi Watts plays the dead pan spy whose emotions are so well suppressed that you want to scream for her – ‘just tell’em they’re a pack of liars!’ Did you ever see the photo of the first Bush cabinet taken by Annie Liebovitz? What you see in that picture is what you may see in this film. Democracy is terrifying. 6/10.
