Who are your friends? Saw the movie, ‘The Social Network,’ about the founding of Facebook by Harvard student and the world’s youngest billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, and others.
What started out as an exclusive network for Harvard students to pick up dates has now passed 500 million. This is a cleverly structured movie that does more than just take you on a linear narrative from creation to success. The movie is centred on two law suits brought by people who claim stakes in Zuckerberg’s ideas. The depositions of Zuckerberg allow us to get inside this introspective, perhaps autistic genius, a man who is presented as childlike in his naivety, blind to the two people who cared most for him and impressed by those taking advantage of him. There is a great performance by Justin Timberlake as Napster founder Sean Parker. Who is reading this review? I better ‘friend’ Zuckerberg now! 7/10.
