Later #30: A movie, 'Gainsbourg: The untold story of a Musical Icon'

Saw the movie ‘Gainsbourg: The Untold Story of a Musical Icon.’ Even if you don’t like to see subtitled films, you should see this if you want to know what it’s like to live life without fear of what anyone else thinks, or death. This is the story of singer, songwriter, artist and lover Serge, the father of Charlotte (‘The Tree’), who with sheer talent and balls, but not good looks, was able to seduce the world, Brigitte Bardot and everyone else around him, even from his childhood. Think of the song, Je t'aime... moi non plus and if you don’t know it by the title, you will remember it when you hear it! This was a man who did not sleep because his mind could not stop creating. So when everyone else was absent, he sat with his alter ego ‘Mug’ (like Crowe’s ‘A Beautiful Mind’ companion), a cartoon-like caricature of himself, which played both villain and guru, scheming the next stages of his life. Remember when we were kids and everyone loved to sit around a camp fire with the person who could play guitar after dinner? 8/10.
